NATCHEZ GROCERY

Natchez Grocery: Image

Natchez is known for its historic buildings as well as its food culture. In cooking, you must bring together ingredients and mix them together to create a dish. Because of this, the building form was dictated by both the pre-existing Goodyear building, as well as the demolished historic home and buildings that had existed on the site, and these masses were then all combined to create the final building mass.

Located in the Go Cup district of Natchez, Mississippi, the multi-use project utilizes a pre-existing Goodyear Tire building. Using the existing structure and building while also expanding vertically and horizontally in order to incorporate new functions. The main function of the building would be a grocery store located on the first floor of the building while the secondary functions are located on the second floor. Having all these different functions located in the same building will create a sense of community to this new building, something that the Natchez residents felt was lacking from the modern grocery stores
